Christmas Cash and FREE Formula

Yes, I hit the Black Friday Sales…first time ever, I did pretty good though.  Got all the toys for my little ones at 1/2 off.  Now the hard part, DAD.  What to get Dad??? His presents cost more than Fisher Price toys.  I wish I had more money.

Then I remembered the Christmas that I got 500 bucks for getting my flu shots done….remember when I did that?

It’s through a company called Jean Brown.  They give the same shots, immunizations as the pediatricians, ONLY they follow up a few months down the road to make sure your shots are working  AND if your child gets sick during the season, you can take them to the Jean Brown Doctors, NO Co-Pay or anything, for check-ups.  It’s a sweet deal, only, it fills up REAL Quick.

So check out the info and then call to schedule.  801-261-2000

Pediatric Immunizations for 11-16 year olds.  FREE shots, plus $250.00 per child (or teen, I guess)

Pediatric Immunizations for 10-12 year olds, FREE shots plus $100.00-$300.00 per child.

When I went, they were doing the flu shots for little ones, like 6 months old to 3 years old, so both my boys at the time qualified and we got 250 for each…total 500.00 bucks.  Do you know how many toys $500.00 will buy little tikes???  It was an Awesome Christmas

Who wants FREE Fomula???  Or know someone who could benefit from it?

This came in a lot quicker than we thought–

Call Jean Brown for all the details.  They are working with a formula company to feed babies, starting at 14 days old, til I believe they turn 4 months old.   They should have the formula the mid to end of December, so if you know someone delivering in the next bit, pass along the info  by the time they get the formula, the baby will be the perfect 14 days old!
*They want mothers who cannot breast feed, or for some reason choose not to breast feed, first.

The number again is 801-261-2000.

I just wish they were doing something for little guys right now….but all you with older kido’s, enjoy!  AND call now, so the slots don’t fill up

Make it an awesome Christmas!  I’ll keep my eyes and ears pealed for more holiday fun and post it to the event calendar for ya.

Disney On Ice, Treasure Trove

I’m so happy!  Last night I took my 2 boys, 3 years old and 4 years old, to Disney On Ice.

We lasted the whole show!   A full 2 hours on the edges of their seats.  They laughed when Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy came out on the ice.  There were skits from Aladin, Snow White, Peter Pan, Tangled…the Lion King was AWESOME with all the different animals they brought.  The colors totally shifted when we went “Under the Sea” with the Little Mermaid.

I’m personally still trying to figure out how Pumba (the pig in Lion King) skated on all 4 feet.  And the crocodille from Peter Pan was super cool.

I know you’re just going to LOVE the show–remember to mention Utah Kids Club when you call to book your tickets.  *Phone number listed on the Discount Directory*

Circus Report

Hey Cali,

Just thought I’d let you know how the circus went. Sadly, Energy Solutions Arena doesn’t allow cameras with removable lenses inside, which means I only had my phone to take pictures. Maybe there is a phone out there that takes riveting pictures in low light, unfortunately mine is not one of them. I ended up with exactly 5 super blurry pictures before I gave up, and just sat back to enjoyed the show.

Ringling Brothers was an amazing production! I wish I could have captured the expression on my five-year-old’s face when they started juggling with fire…it was combination terror/anger/awe. My three-year-old’s favorite part was the ginormous bucket of popcorn and the glow in the dark toys, and my 9 month old LOVED the music, LOVED my teeth, LOVED the lights, LOVED pulling my hair, LOVED the dancers, LOVED trying to climb on top of my head…you get the idea. The elephant tricks? Awesome! One of the clowns had biceps as big around as his torso. I swear they had to be fake, but they looked SO REAL.The tightrope walkers and trapeze artists are a perennial favorite of mine, and they did not disappoint! The excitement of just being there was palpable.

Honestly though, I think the PETA protestors kinda ruined the circus for my kids. I’m sympathetic to PETA, and think the protestors are really great people who are voluntarily dedicating their time to a cause they believe in. So, we stopped and chatted for a few seconds, and my kids got free coloring books and gave high fives to the PETA volunteer who was dressed up as an elephant. Then we got into the arena and while we were waiting for the circus to start they asked me to read the coloring book, which was titled Animals Belong in the Jungle. It briefly summarized why animals may not be happy in the circus, so for the rest of the show I was getting comments like “I think that elephant looks sad.” “Will they whip the horses?” “Why do they chain up the elephants?” “I don’t think the zebras are happy.” *Sigh* I guess I should have thought that one through better. The next day when we talked about the circus they asked “Next time can we go to a circus with no animals?” Well done PETA. Well done.

But I don’t consider an outing that doesn’t go as planned a failure. My purpose in seeking out new experiences for my kids, is to help them have fun, or help broaden their perspective. My kids had fun, and formed an ethical opinion. Purpose accomplished.

I love that with the kids club we get to experience new things for so much less money!
Thanks for everything!
Emilie

Getting psyched up for the CIRCUS

My friend Emilie is so GREAT, she got tickets to the Circus and wrote this for us, she has so much fun with her kids, I LOVE It!

Cali, we’re so excited, The Ringling Brothers Circus is here in NINE DAYS.  Thanks for the discount tickets! When I told my kids that we were going, they spent a solid ten minutes jumping up and down in circles singing a “we’re going to the circus” song that they made up on the spot. Soon after they’d finished their revelry it became obvious that they had absolutely no idea what the circus is. Their only exposure to the concept of a circus is the book Put Me in the Zoo, and if they are expecting a circus to be a place to meet whatever kind of doing-tricks-with-spots-animal from that book, they’re going to be disappointed.

So last night we had a circus education intervention. Because it’s important for my kids to have semi-accurate expectations, it’s important for them to appreciate the difficulty of what they see at the circus, and it’s fun to play circus. Here’s what we did aside from eating peanuts and popcorn:
